Holy crap!

How did I miss the fact that Pat Taylor died last Friday? Given his considerable wealth (he was easily one of the richest men in the state), you’d think word would have spread a little faster.

Now, Pat wasn’t what you’d call well-liked. In fact, to some people he was a downright ornery, backbiting snake-in-the-grass. He was a major supporter of the controversial Confederate Museum, and by all accounts, he was a virulent racist and homophobe. And he wasn’t particularly friendly with the synagogue set either, if you know what I mean. I’m sure there are those in the greater metro area who danced a jig all weekend long.

He’s kinda cute, though. You know what they say about the cute ones.

A douche bag, yes. But the douche bag whose money established what was known as the Taylor Plan and is now TOPS, allowing many, many people (including those he hated) to attend college in Louisiana tuition free. At least give him that in his death.

Yeah, I’ll give him that. Though his alleged kindness is almost outweighed by the very public, THOROUGHLY unforgiveable campaign he’s waged against the Ogden Museum and, even more troubling, against Roger Ogden himself.

It kinda makes me wonder if his widow, Phyllis, wasn’t Pat’s own personal Waylon Smithers, encouraging the old codger to do something nice every now and then–if only for the sake of appearances.

And Tyler, “flattering” would be a good word to describe his obit pic. I’m not sayin’, I’m just sayin’.
