There was a popular Children’s show on WWL through the late 70’s and into the 80’s called “Popeye and Pals”. The show’s format consisted of a bunch of kids sitting around eating Popeye’s fried chicken and the host would introduce each Popeye cartoon by giving a brief synopsis. Then he and the kids would put make googles over their eyes with their hands and scream in unison, “Roll ‘Em!” right before the cartoon went on. I had the pleasure of attending a show in 1984 and it was THE experience of my early youth.
