Who’s the best slide guitarist?
Here’s a musical subject that’s been on my mind; and no better place to discuss it than here, I think.
Who is the best slide guitarist on the planet? On my own blog, I suggested that Kenny Brown is the most aggressive. (You can hear Kenny on some of R.L. Burnside’s and Junior Kimbrough’s recordings.) A commenter nominated John Mooney as top gun. Lately I’ve been listening more closely to Sonny Landreth; he may be among the most creative. Jeremy Lyons is pretty good too.
What do you think? Don’t be bashful; leave a comment–especially if you think the best is someone local.
