Places where we hang out
Being the new kid on the blog (hell, I’m FIFTY fergodsakes), it might help folks to know where Kim and I hang out. It might give a sense of neighborhood. A look at personality, if you will. A point of reference, possibly. Or at the very least, a chance to buy us a drink.
Igor’s Garlic Clove on St. Charles (wonderful barkeep conversation — thank you Martha, Tim and the rest). Good tourist watching.
Wednesdays at the Square — free tunes, reasonably priced food/drink. It’s like a Friday on a Wednesday. Except for today. Check out Shemekia Copeland later this month.
Parasol’s (Third and Constance — but you know that) — because it’s across the street from the house.
The Exchange (the old LatinAmerica Club, Third and Magazine) — because it’s a block up from the house. Keith makes killer oysters when he’s there and he’s coming up with more stuff all the time. Decent pool tables (50 cents!). Never a crowd.
Superior Grill — because the ceviche rocks and we can stumble home on our own if need be.
The Delachaise — a $15 dinner tab for some wonderfully inventive food. And a $60 bar tab that’s worth every sip.
I had intended to fill my initial post with wonderfully shrewd and amusing insights into local events and happenings. But, frankly, I’m having a mojito right now and Randy Newman is playing and I don’t care. I’m more of a morning person anyway. Watch this space for the occasional lassiez-faire rant. Just give it time.

Welcome ancient one! Oh, I’m just kidding. Seriously, thanks for joining the team, Craig. I look forward to reading more of your posts.
Mmm, mojitos. It so happened that I drank several of them this past weekend, although before that I hadn’t had one since last summer.
Kim’s herb garden is overrun with mint, so mojitos are a big favorite here — along with the Soy En Habana feel they give you. And, seeing your name, we’re also big oyster fans here. Gotta get a half-bag for the weekend, since my daughter’s coming down from Dallas.
Mmmmmmmmm Oysters. YAY!! ( I’m a sucker for bi - valves)
Oh, yes. I do luv dem bivalves– really, do they get more plump and delicious than in Louisiana? I think not. (And I’ve had a sampling from the West Coast and over in Europe, so I’m not being completely provincial this time.)
So, oyster = Mark. We’re the same, but since I currently use blawgrr, MT won’t let me post my homepage, Your Right Hand Thief.
All the same, welcome Craig. I can already tell you will exponentially improve the quality of our Metrobloggin’. Someday perhaps we can slurp some down together.
