Tropical Storm. Again

A tropical storm moving ashore this evening. Kinda blustery out, but nothing unusual this time of year. I DO like to hear the wind blow things around and hear the rain on the roof, long as things don’t get out of line. And this one’s not a problem.
The next one is of more concern, however. We’ll see what it brings. Never, ever turn your back on Mother Nature. She bats last.

240,000 without power - yeah, the temperature was nice this morning as I was steering around downed trees in the streets. And showering by flashlight is always fun, too.

This one, Cindy, seems like it caused more damage than anything in the last 5 years or so.. Ivan, Isidore, Lily, Bill… Lots of co-workers have trees down on their property, no power, etc. Driving down Jeff Davis Pkwy this morning looked like a warzone- a one lane path carved through a blanket of branches and limbs. Several pine trees were uprooted by a monument at Jeff Davis & Tulane. Going down Tulane, many of the signs and awnings on Tulane Ave. businesses were shattered.

I lost some siding on my house which may have been knocked off by the neighbor’s chimney, which crumbled and fell down in the wind & rain! Not a fun evening.. hopefully Dennis goes somewhere else.

Heard (second-hand) that a local tree service employee hadn’t seen this many downed trees in twenty years. Good thing it wasn’t a hurricane.
