This horrible event could reoccur if there is another hurricane. Meteorologists say that with our climate changing, we can expect more weather disasters. Why rebuild the levees? Let nature find the new shore and build from there. Save pumping, maintenance. Start over like Berlin and London did after the war. We will lose the french quarter but we could build it again. Help people relocate in new cities. They have nothing to lose. It is a good time to relocate and make a new start.

Does anyone know who I can contact??? I just spoke to my mother-in-law and it turns out my husband's great-aunt is missing. She was staying in an Independent living complex on DiMarco Drive in Marrero and somebody just before the storm had given her the keys to the place and told her she was in charge; hence, when her family asked her to come with them, she said she couldn't that she had to take care of the building - she's a much older lady and her name is Kathryn Camus...please let me know who to contact to have them look or what websites to view to find her name possibly listed in a shelter...thank you

As a teacher, I find it commendable that you are concerned over your nephew's education. I'm sure your nephew will be one of many in that situation. Not to worry, educators have ways of figuring out a childs abilities and placing them correctly according to abilities, paperwork or not.

However, your concern seems oddly misplaced so soon after this tragedy. Consider that there are people whose loved ones are either lost or dead, also, there are people still in need of rescue from perilous situations.

I think is too soon to worry about getting a kid back into school when the safety of thousands is still in question. All of our concern should be for people still in perils way before anything else. When all are accounted for, then comes the focus on getting back to normal and getting kids back in school, along with massive rebuilding efforts needed to restore people's lives.

I urge everyone to donate to their ability, and to do it as often as possible.

Ok, I cannot figure out how to directly post, maybe you can get this on there.

My family comes from Metarie...they experienced a fair amount of damage but as it seems maybe not devastating....the big problem is they have a 9th grade boy and how does he go to school

How are all of these agencies helping kids get back in school.

I have tried to get my nephew in school by me in Chicago area and they cannot figure out how to do it without transcripts and immunization records..

Did FEMA and the rest of the agencies think for one second about all of that and say to school systems where family lives (not in the disaster area) that maybe they just need to accept these children.

Help....I am trying to help my family in need but am having a really hard time because there is no disaster management plan to help the kids keep on moving when they have family in other parts of the country who can help them.

Any ideas????
