Bulletin Boards are up!!
Ive started a survivors list that I hope will make it easier for people to locate each other and provide some peace of mind for those worried about loved ones and friends. Please post yourself and only people you have first hand knowledge of . If you know of people other than first hand the state that it isnt very reliable info and maybe someone else can confirm it.
Additionally, if youre wondering about specific people post the names and maybe someones seen them or know where someone went and how to contact them. I hope this helps the people scattered and as more people get out theyll be looking for friends.
Heres the General Bulletin Board link: http://metboards.com/

wE CAN DEBATE AND CRITICISE EVERYONE CONNECTED TO THIS DISASTER. MY HEART GOES OUT TO ALL OF THE VICTIMS. TRULY THE MOST IMPORTANT THING ANYONE CAN DO AT THIS TIME IS TO PRAY TO GOD ALMIGHTY AND TO OFFER OUR ASSISTANCE IN WHATEVER MANNER AVAILABLE TO US. PLEASE HASN’T THERE BEEN ENOUGH FIGHTING? WHERE IS THE AMERICAN SPIRIT OF HELPING OTHERS IN NEED???
AS A CHRISTIAN I WOULD LIKE TO ASK EVERYONE TO PLEASE HELP.
THANK YOU.
What would be the biggest help?
I live up north and have never been so disgusted with the usass
in my whole life.
is everyone ok down there?
Don’t let them grind you down. No one’s forgotten about a single one of you.
I LIVE IN NEW YORK. IS THERE A CARAVAAN LEAVING HERE FOR NEW ORLEANS TO PROVIDE MORAL AND PHYSICAL SUPPORT (HANDING OUT SUPPLIES, MEDICAL ATTN, ETC) TO NEW ORLEANS RESIDENTS? CAN ONE BE FORMED?
CAN LOCAL CHURCHES OPEN THERE DOORS? IS THERE A WAY TO CONNECT THE VICTIMS WITH POEPLE WHO WILL OPEN THEIR HOMES. WHAT ABOUT EMPTY AND VACANT BUILDINGS?
In my lifetime, born 1940 – Washington D.C. this country has been at war for 3/4 of my life…first memory atomic bombs on japan, korean war, myself a vetran, the vietnam war, gulfwar, whatever they call this war, important losses in a five year period John Kennedy, Martin Leuthur King, Bobby Kennedy, Malcom X…all in the process of changing the world, specifically this country….we have become the bully, the world cop, and we cannot help you my brothers and sisters of the Gulf Coast of this country….where is the beef? all over the world in other folks business….my wife went to Charity School of Nursing in NO, she is 62 and is at work today saving lives here in the United Rebuplic of San Francisco, in many ways the only city I feel something of the Jeffersonian View of the need for revolution every 20 years….ie, the Whiskey Tax (I do not believe the President or figurehead of our country even knows of this fact) I do not believe he as a knowledge of history of his own state, much less the country the continent, the world….WELL now we see the results of our self-centered quest for ME, business tax breaks and no Central Government with the ability to deal with this horror. What lies at the bottom? Dead bodies.

I wanted to point out the following site that has been set up today.
http://katrina.im-ok.org/
It organizes people by primary phone numbers. You can leave a message that you are ok or look up people by phone number. Hopefully it will help. Best wishes from Houston.
I live in Birmingham AL and several churches have made parts of their churches available for refugees as well as the Catholic Diocese and the Episcopal Diocese, the web address is http://www.dioala.org. Maybe this will help anyone of the Miss area or the NOAL that is already out of the area. My heart goes out to each of the families affected. If each person in the major cities could donate $10 to a reputable source maybe the private sector could help since it seems that the government is unwilling or unable to assist the people at this time.
EVERYONE IN THE EFFECTED AREAS AND EVERYONE EFFECTED YOU ARE IN THE PRAYERS OF MANY. WE HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN YOU. I KNOW THE HELP IS SLOW, BUT HANG IN THERE IT’S COMING. I KNOW IT’S EASY FOR ME TO SAY, SINCE I’M NOT THERE. I LIVE IN FLORIDA AND NEXT TIME IT COULD BE ME. MY HEART AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU ALL. MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND KEEP YOU SAFE.
Americans suffered needlessly because of the incompetence of the Bush Administration. Not one FEMA or National Guard or Military shipment came to the rescue of thousands of people at the New Orleans Convention Center for four days, where some died of thirst and lack of medical attention. Not one helicopter, not one truckload of food, not one medic.
The head of FEMA also said that he didn’t know there were people stranded at the Superdome until Thursday, even though this was broadcast widely and covered in the newspapers all week.
What does this say about Bush’s wasteful use of billions of our tax dollars allegedly on “homeland security.” This could have been a terrorist attack. The Busheviks weren’t prepared at all, even after days of warning about the storm. With a terrorist attack, they wouldn’t have even seen it coming, so their incompetence would have been even worse in not responding, which is hard to imagine.
This is inexcusable. If Bush is a man of God, God must have his head in his hands today, cursing his doltish, feckless self-anointed follower. People have been dying in American streets because the American government can’t get water or food to them, even though reporters could get into the city.
IF THIS WAS RUAL WHITEBREAD TOWN, THEN THIS WOULD NEVER HAD HAPPEND! BECAUSE IS PO” BLACK FOLK!!!! BUSH HAS NO PROBLEM SENDING US TO FIGHT HIS WAR!!!!
AND DO NOT WRITE ME WITH YOUR BIBLE BEATING PRO_BUSH SELF RIGHTOEUS WORDS. You PRO BUSH people are a creed in exstiction!!!!!
Dianne, your heart is in the right place, but they do not need any people in New Orleans at this time. By the time you could get there, those who need looking after should be moved out, and to the extent the city can partially resume daily life, it will be doing so.
Also, unlike other disasters situations you may recall, the displaced are not going to be heading back soon, so there will not be rebuilding to assist with. It is going to be weeks before there is much point in people beginning to return.
Send money, and make sure that whatever your situation is, you are prepared for whatever the threats of disaster are where you are.
I think that it is nice that you thought of setting up a person-finding list. However, there are a number of these, including nola.com, craigslist.com, cnn.com, etc., etc.
Can I suggest that you not continue with your list and even contact others with lists to combine them so that people don’t have to look in a multitude of lists.

I earlier sent this thought to Ernie Svenson, who posted it on his blog.
We’ve set up a forum to discuss Katrina … all issues surrounding this major natural (and un-natural) disaster.
This storm will be in the history books … as will the numerous problems to come.

I wish there was a way to email Ray Rakin directly, but I haven’t found it. I am so proud of Major Rakin for standing up to Bush and the kiss-ass Lousiana govenor. He’s been the only one down there that has been truthful and stood up for his city and what he believes. I’m a 60yr. old white resident of Missouri and I commend Major Rakin and all that’s he done. Too bad there are not more officials like him.
How dare ANYONE try to put any blame on him for this disaster? Kayne West was right — Bush doesn’t care about black people. I hate the S.O.B
bigoted racist and I wish there was some way to impeach him for this!!!!!!!!!!!!!
j johnson kanye west was and is an idiot and it was COMPLETELY inappropraite for him to hijack a fundraiser for his ignorant personal opinion.
I wonder how many people didn’t contribute money after his idiotic comments.
As for the race issue in this tragedy it isn’t an issue. The issue is SOCIAL CLASS. The middle and upper class blacks and white left before the storm arrived leaving those without resources behind and that is why those are the people we are now seeing.
Lastly, as for Bush being racist last time I checked he (unlike Clinton) actually placed blacks in positions of extreme importance such as Secretary of State. Whereas Clinton claimed to support black people, but didn’t place any blacks into positions of importance in his cabinet.
If Mayor Nagin sends himself and his first responders to Las Vegas, I will personally go on a campaign to stop sending money. That is their job, he did a pathethic job and he wants to go “Party” because that is what people in New Orleans do?
Put that money to good use and help the citizens that have suffered because of his and Gov. Blanco’s inability to do their job.
This is the most absurd thing I have ever heard. We went through Hurricane Ivan, and none of our first responders left us to party!
Please people, stop this convict of a major. What a disgrace!
It almost appears to me that the mayor let this happen to New Orleans on purpose and for more than a few reasons.
