Houses were split open, and you could see necklaces hanging from branches of trees.*

Ive been running around New York for a few days and I keep hearing that FEMA is providing 125,000 trailers to the Katrina impacted area. My mind keeps painting this picture of Orleans Parish being a big trailer park. I can imagine a whole Gummo-esc culture replacing Lakeviewtrailers being stacked on top of each other and faux fronts being built to hide the fact. Its a neat, if not disturbing thought exercise.

I cant really find any proof or details about this, but I do remember seeing something on the news. Some interview with a dealership owner whod been told x number of trailers were being purchased but then no one ever came back. That must have been in the week or two following the storm though and Ive heard nothing since.

Well, this is all going to be very interesting. So at least theres that.

WWLTV showed a nice shot of a makeshift FEMA trailer park in an undiscolsed location in New Orleans that is supposed to open later today or tomorrow. Hundreds of mobile homes with pop-out dining rooms, all neatly 10 feet apart from each other in a concrete parking lot.

For those seeking alternative housing in New Orleans, FEMA is sponsoring their own version of Craig’s list, with listings for properties available for rent. It’s located at:
