Time Well Spent

I haven’t been posting as much lately because I’ve ended my week’s worth of work at Parasol’s (which was highly enjoyable) and have gone to working full-time on getting my cheese business operating again. I figure the faster I can help my landlord muck out the place, the faster I’ll be able to resume business and the busy holidays are drawing nearer by the day.

This has placed me in the same situation as thousands of other New Orleanians these days — ripping out moldy wallboard and dragging debris to an ever-growing pile o’ crap out front. I am stylishly attired in those evah-so-macho rubber boots and I have my choice of leather or rubber gloves, depending on the task at hand. I reek constantly of bleach and sweat and, I gotta tell ya, the combination of bleach and TSP makes quick work of them slimyass spores.

The building lost much of its roof, but at least I’ve still got a (moldy) ceiling. While some of it will have to come out, I think I can save much of it. But in spraying the bleach solution upward, I have to dodge the falling mist and this has left my orange T-shirts with a tiny white shotgun-pellet pattern. Perhaps I can find the right young glamzons and parlay this look into some sort of post-Katrina haute couture.

Funny, you may!!!! Layer it with a long tee (white of course) and call it Urban Chic Renewal. I began reading your blog the days during and after Katrina. I am from NOLA, born and raised in Mid City. They are going through the same cleaning process, perhaps creating a line for all (children, grandmas, uncles (fat, small), whatever.
