Sex and the City
One of the things I kept hearing following the 9/11 attacks was that casual sex was suddenly wildly popular in New York. It made complete sense. Lust seems to be kind of a natural instinct in these times of stress and grief. Of course, casual sex has always been wildly popular in New Orleans. But unfortunately for straight, single men, there are now about 14 single women in the entire city. At least that’s how it seems at the bars and coffee shops of our fine city.
I’d been hearing about this female shortage for some time and not really thinking too much about it. Unfortunately, my girlfriend moved to Seattle last week, and now I’m starting to realize what everybody’s been talking about. There’s no girls! Anywhere! Normally I am not the kind of guy that picks up women in bars, and I’ve usually turned my nose up at the idea of meeting women online. Normally, I wouldn’t use metroblogs as a vehicle to do so either, it just seems sleazy. But desperate times call for desperate measures. So what I’m getting at here is this; Ladies– I’m available. Spread the word. Thanks.

I hear ya, brother. I’ve dubbed this “The Great Blowjob Famine of 2005″. You know what it is; its those cock-blocking National Guard guys! I have a hard time (no pun inteded) when the odds are pretty even so I’ve just given up. But don’t worry, I’m in good hands.
LOL. Trying to engage in a little erectioneering, are we?
gosh, wasn’t new orleans always about sex and love and romance? i guess without women, for a straight guy the place must feel like a military camp.
Actually, Zayn, for us faggotinis, New Orleans is full of sex, love, and romance at the moment. It’s kinda like a dime-store novel co-authored by John LeCarre and Jackie Collins, but with rolling blackouts.
If shit doesn’t start looking up here pretty soon, I may have to hop to the other side - if its temporary it doesn’t really count right? Like a frog…Really, its a matter of having to answer a few of the questions differently when I give blood…lol
i’m visiting this weekend, actually, are any of you guys grownups? no offense meant, but you’re prolly all under 40, sigh.
As I’m taking weekend trips sporadically while school continues (displaced-ly) in Houston, what is even open and fun for late-20somethings now in NoLa. Is St. Joe’s open again? I’ve had dreams of blueberry mojitos.
St. Joe’s is indeed open, but only in the evenings. Like most places, hours and staff are limited. I think their sign says they open at 5pm these days.
Didn’t St. Joe’s always open at 5 p.m.? I remember not being able to get an afternoon drink there on several occasions.
unfortunally my ex boyfriend moved to seattle. no still the city of romance. i’m currently outside of chicago. will be back to no.
hi chris,
