Dominion Tower (DUH duh DUUUHHHH)
I’m sitting in Southern California and having a fine time, ya know. Something I heard last week has been tugging at me the last few days: According to one source with Simon Property Group, The owners of Dominion tower are going to convert the building into Condos. Or, at least, they are considering it. I hesitated to blog it immediately because I wanted to sort of gather my thoughts on the subject first.
First, most of the current business occupants are likely leaving anyway. They are allowing the radio stations to stay, which is likely the only tenant that would be bothered by being kicked out. Secondly, with the number of residences that have been destroyed, and the rise in property values, this isn’t really a bad decision from a business standpoint. I used to work in that building so my opinion is all biased, but it really isn’t a very nice building and it hasn’t been maintained very well either. It’s pretty widely known that they’ve had problems keeping tenants in there and the city is really only something like 40% occupied as far as office space is concerned. I can’t remember where I saw that number but it was the same article that suggested there wouldn’t be another office complex built in the CBD until something like 2015.
Overall, it isn’t a bad idea. I don’t think I’d live there, especially if I could get a place at St. Elizabeth’s Orphanage instead - but those might be sold out - I’m not sure. If I was going to live in Dominion, I’d certainly have to live on the 13th floor - The 13th floor of Dominion Tower, yeah, that’s right, I’m the devil.

I just know it as “that building”, while I or someone else point to it.
I seriously doubt Dominion Tower will be converted into condos.
