The Times-Buzzkillayune

After reading yesterday’s Chris Rose article about a guy killing himself in some kind of Romeo-esque fashion, and today’s Angus Lind column about the life and death of Hansen’s Sno-Bliz co-founder Mary Hansen, I had to ask myself why I even read the damned paper anymore. Aside from the living section’s crushing stories of people’s lives destroyed by the hurricane, the front page stories haven’t been very uplifting either. I think it might be time to start living in a bubble and start ignoring all media outlets.

In fact, I wish the Times-Picayune offered a new subscription service in which they delivered today’s paper from exactly 1 year ago. Dec. 7th, 2004, that’s the news I want to read; “Oh look honey, the Hornets lost again last night, there were three murders in Central City yesterday, and they bombed Pearl Harbor 63 years ago today!”

“Really? That’s the best news I’ve heard in months!”

Sadly, if I believed this I would have to stop reading this site. I can’t explain, I won’t explain, why and how much I love New Orleans.

But, sadly, the despair I feel is akin to the “he” and “she” of Rose’s column. Rose should tell us his name. The he who died was a real body. Every body should stop. Pay notice.
