On that note, my friend Renee got her gas back on yesterday. She’s near Liuzza’s by the track….at her announcement, the whole kitchen at La Crepe let out a giant cheer. I choked back tears. I am again just writing it.

PLEASE tell me: how is Liuzza’s doing? I’d headed back to N.O. soon, and no trip is complete without a chilled goblet of Abita and a po-by with a plate of french-fries-and-gravy at Liuzza’s.
Liuzza’s didn’t fare well. Neither did nearby Katie’s nor Mandina’s. All are still standing and I understand all will be back — but it’s going to be a while.
Who said Saks is not coming back? The NOLA Saks was the most profitable Saks per square foot in the whole chain. The Canal Place website and the Saks, Inc. SEC filings both indicate that the store will reopen in Fall 2006.
