Mid City Bonfire

This years bonfire crowd seemed to be at about the level it was in pre-K years and it was just as wonderful as
ever. It seemed to fulfill the need for many many residents to vent a lot of frustration. People of all ages and backgrounds ran circles around the fire, some skipped. The hippies did a drum circle that added a lot to event. There was a noticable difference this year in the shortage of trees and plethora of fire/police personnel. Usually there is steady refueling of the bonfire but this year it was a one burn pile and then the cops threw a big piece of furniture in there and that was it. The fire department called it quits earlier than usual but everyone in the crowd applauded, grateful for the city support of the event. And we even got to see New Orlean’s finest wrestle one only marginally wild man to the ground. Then we all went back over to Editor B’s for our blackeyed peas which were the best I’ve ever had ! Here’s his blog in case you haven’t seen it: http://b.rox.com/ I could have easily stayed out all night, there were so many things going on in the city last night. The columns had a huge kick-off last night for their grand re-opening….someone tell me if Mike is back behind the bar . . . when I went by it looked like you couldn’t even get two feet on the porch. It was so beautiful ~

That was supposed to read, “I love Bacon. Baconbaconbacon.” But, it didn’t work on first try. Oh well. Bacon is still great.
