New to Metroblogging, New to NOLA

Hello There
This is my first Metroblogging entry and I am glad to be here. I have also just moved to New Orleans so this is a big change for me. I used metroblogging as away to find out more about what was really going on in the city before I moved and I am excited about contributing to the New Orleans Blogging site. So let me give you the low down on me and my New Orleans adventure. I am married, 25 my name is Rayna and I just moved to Marigny 5 weeks ago. That’s right after the hurricane and I am not crazy…that I know of. We had been planning this move for a long time and when the hurricane hit I was watching it all on TV from Fort Myers, Florida. It felt like my future was washing away. To not come here after that would be like divorcing your husband who was dying of cancer. It’s just not right. Here we are to lend a helping hand and start a new future in this funky little town.

So what were you doing in south Fla? What are you gonna do in the big easy?

Don’t forget all those people who are talking to themselves out loud on the street are natives, so get with the flow !

Welcome, Rayna! I’m a fan of the NOLA metrobloggers (who also has relatives in Ft Myers). I think you show courage in following your dream of moving to New Orleans. Paul Prudhomme and Wynton Marsalis were on New Year’s Eve Live from Times Square, asking people from other parts of the country to come down and visit, support New Orleans now to rebuild. I’m sure you’ll be an asset to the metroblog, you’ll be in incredible company.

Welcome, Rayna. Being crazy is an inherent trait of New Orleanians. So, if it turns out you are crazy afterall, consider it a blessing. You’ll fit right in with the rest of us.

I’m glad to see other people are going to move to N.O. My wife and I hope to be moved by april. We are looking for jobs as we speak. Let me say to anyone that reads this that their is no better city in the world then New Orleans. I’m living in Indiana right now , and can’t wait to move. I have a lot of history with this great city, as my grandmother was born there, and the first time I went there was over thirty years ago and I was hooked. I belive that the future is bright for N.O, or I would’nt take a chance and move.Good luck and best wishes N.O.
