More Food News

An article in Thursday’s T-P had several good tidbits, among them:

  • Hubig’s Pies resuming production; pies to hit store shelves Monday, a.k.a. tomorrow (!!!)
  • Angelo Brocato’s to re-open, hopefully by spring. The sign survived.
  • Reily foods commits to restoring the amazing Blue Plate Mayonnaise sign in Mid-City.
  • Patton’s Hot Sausage is being made in Bogalusa and sold in area grocery stores. Production is limited and demand strong.
  • Crystal Sauce manufacutrer Baumer Foods not planning to return to their Mid City bottling plant. Crystal is being bottled elsewhere but remains extremely hard to come by.

Recent notable restaurant re-openings; Galatoire’s, Antoine’s, Arnaud’s, Emeril’s, Brigtsen’s, Trolley Stop, Fiorella’s, Jacques-Imo’s.

Food and Wine magazine has a great reporter on the ground here who is blogging about the restaurant scene at http://foodandwine.blogs.com/neworleans/. Check it out.

I live right across from hubig’s pies and they have been working around the clock for the last week or so, I hope it pays off and they are in stores on time.
