Volunteers Needed for Tulane’s Treme Survey

St. Augustine Church in Treme is the site of the Second Harvesters Food Pantry. I went over last Monday to help unload the truck for a couple hours. They are getting some good quality foodstuff over there at Second Harvesters these days. The pantry is busy and they have been tracking where people who are visiting are coming from and they have mapped it. They are somewhat hard to read but thought I would pass along the quanitative analysis, ain’t no mickey mouse food pantry, y’all. Food Pantry Usage Maps

Also, I really wanted to put the word out that the Tulane Public Health students need volunteers for the weekend of Feb. 11th &12th to walk Treme and do an extensive household survery. There are none being done anywhere in the city that are this detailed, it’s a challenge but the information could be the most useful thus far. It’s the mother of all surveys. On Sunday, at 6pm they are having food and music for both volunteers and residents at St. Aug’s church. Sunpie Barnes and some other locals will be hosting this free hootenanny. How about a few hours for your city? One neighborhood at a time. Contact Erin Bertschy at ebertsch@tulane.edu.
