I worked both jobs on Ash Wednesday. Usually I am good. But usually I am off. Y’all, don’t let me work this day. It sucked. At my day job, I came in and they said, “oh, we assumed you weren’t coming in until tomorrow.” No way, I could have slept and didn’t ! It really sucked later just because well, kitchen work sucks. It’s hard. It’s physical. It’s fast and dirty. I’m over it. And, now you know, everyone’s planning on quitting all their vices for Lent because we all gotta check ourselves. We’re gonna be one crabby-ass, looney town here for the next couple. And we don’t have much room for more of that. So hunker down, things could get weirder.

Of course, tonight, in following with the new monastic regimen, I rented a weekend worth of movies and parked my butt in the bed rather early. In for the night. But no, Blockbuster had another plan for me. Get dressed and rush over before closing in ten minutes (7pm) and have them remove the security lock thingies they forgot when I rented them. I am pretty new to the movie rental world, we’re all beat. Really, it’s ok . . . don’t apologize. . . just lock that door.

Yeah, I’m off the sauce for Lent, and I’m not even Catholic.

Hey, Blockbuster’s error, they should have waited til you got your beauty sleep. Screw them, they’ve got their corporate stocks to hold ‘em til the a.m.
