Metairie Barnes and Noble Open

It is finally open for business, the Barnes and Noble Metairie, that is. I just returned from the Family and Friends Gala it was from 6 to 9 tonight. The store is open officially to the public tomorrow morning. The evening was very nice I felt a tad under dressed in my jeans but I dressed it up with my pink hat and all was well in the end. The whole deal was catered, the Hors D’eouvres flowed along with samples from the cafĂ©. They were making crafts for the little ones in the Children’s Department and their were balloons and other Mardi Gras type decorations all around. Two bands played one for each floor of the building. I was very impressed and happy to be there to show my support. Outside they had a lucky dog vender and a mini Mardi Gras float from which they were passing out the lovely gifts you see here

That is right it is a cup, a bookmark (very original) and some beads all with Barnes and Noble written on them along with their own little motto “The pen is mightier than the storm.” The piece de rĂ©sistance however is the Godiva chocolate bar at the top if you have ever had one you know what I mean. I had a lovely time and I hope they do well as they reopen. I have worked for Barnes and Noble for 2 and a half years now and no matter which one I am in I am treated like family. I moved to NOLA with no friends and no real knowledge of the area and everyone at BnN has treated me wonderfully. So stop by and see them if you get a chance.

This is excellent news!! The Whole Foods Market on Vets also had their Grand (re)Opening today. I had lunch from their superb salad bar for lunch and it was wonderful. It was like a weird pre-storm time warp to be able to walk back into the fully operational store again for the first time.
