Freret Street Festival!! June 3rd!!

It was a small affair not unlike umpteen other meetings like this going on over the last few months and for the next few months. About 50 people get together and talk about what the do and don’t like, what we’re going to do about both, trying to get organized, etc. Normally, I don’t like social events that don’t involve alcohol, but this seemed important. It wasn’t as dull as I thought it would be and since there really weren’t any hot chicks my age around I managed to pay attention, somewhat.

I thought it was interesting that we really don’t know who’s back and who’s not, but the neighborhood is pretty empty for being uptown. Here are some interesting things I learned from my little adventure into being a member of the a community that doesn’t exist only on the Internet:

There’s a web site!! Cool! http://freretstreet.com/

Also, at the end of September/first part of October there are about 500 junior leaguers coming down to restore some houses and at least a couple of them should be in my neighborhood - I like those odds - 500 women that’s probably more than live in the city….lol. I’m just kidding. It’s a great thing (and I don’t stand a chance anyway…lmao)

A coffee shop / interment cafe is rumored to be opening up on Ferret in a few months - can’t wait!!

But more exciting than all of that is the fact that the Ferret Street Festival will be held on June 3rd. I’ve never been, but I’m really, really looking forward to it. I would encourage anyone who can make it to do so. I’m already planning a little party at my place as sort of a grouping point. Say it with me: DEEE-R-U-N-K.

The news I most wanted was when/if Dunbar’s is going to open back up. There’s no word on that, but I will certainly post when I hear something. mmmm-red beans.

So that’s all from this side of town.

Y’know, I had NO IDEA that Freret Street neighborhood did all this kind of stuff. I think I am going to that festival. It’s not too far from my house. Jack Ware, put a couple of beers on ice for dangerblond.

Turns out I’m full of shit. Not about the festival, but about me being there - I’ll be visiting my family in Tenn. I haven’t seen them in years and my brother is bringing my six month old nephew whom I’ve never met. sorry ladies, we’ll have to party at my house some other time.
