I Feel a Little Bit Better About the Hurricane Season

I am currently rapping up the end of my Annual Training with the Air National Guard (sorry about the lack of posting lately – the military has been occupying most of my time the past 2 weeks). I am in the only Combat Communications Squadron in LA. After all of the HUGE Communications failures that occurred following Katrina last year, you can probably imagine the pressure that we are under to make sure everything we are responsible for works flawlessly (and in some cases, way beyond specs). As a part of our Annual Training we conducted an exercise deploying our equipment in a mock hurricane scenario. I have to say that I feel 100% better about our role should there be another Katrina-like event. At least from the perspective of this lowly Staff Sergeant, my one particular squadron has its shit together.

I have to say I feel 100% safer than last year just from reading your post! Thanks for all you are doing, Paul. And let’s tighten up on your posting frequency, Sergeant.

Thanks Dangerblond, but don’t get me wrong. My increased confidence in my squadron’s role is dampened by many other things. Such as my lack of confidence in the Corps of Engineers.

Its great to have some idea what is going on there since the hurricane. I live on the tidal side of the flood barrier here in London and am acutely aware of the danger from global warming and freak weather.
Good luck will watch your blog with interest. Pedro.

I can’t argue w/ you Laurie, but what does Global Warmiing have to do with this post?
