There is a gem of a show playing in the French Quarter every Saturday night in June. Bustout Burlesque is a meticulous re-creation of the kind of strip-tease nightclub act that it was possible to see on Bourbon Street in the 1950s. It’s playing at Tipitina’s French Quarter location, which is on North Peters between Iberville and Bienville. There are two shows, one at 8:00 and one at 10:00. There are tables in front and chairs in the back, and you can reserve a table. I saw it last weekend and I was enchanted. It’s sexy, funny and charming. I think it would be great for a date, but not a first date! Make reservations now: 504-975-7425.
Meanwhile, around the corner on Decatur, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy is playing at the House of Blues tonight. I’ve never seen them, but word has reached me that I would like it, so off I will go! Tickets are $22.
