Stealth Guard?

nola.com assures me that along with the military ‘trolling the 3rd, 5th and 7th, “60 State Police officers will assist NOPD in the Faubourg Marigny, the French Quarter, along Canal Street and parts of the CBD.” Given that, beginning last evening, I have been at various spots in the adorementioned neighborhoods and haven’t seen any positive evidence of said officers …

Are they really here? Or are they still on their way?

And, early apologies for the sounds of disappointment, but are they only here to protect tourists?

I saw three State Police while I was biking home. This was in Uptown, however, so I don’t know why they were patrolling over here.

I’m happy to have both the NG and the State Police. The NG should have never left. The places with few residents should have had continuous NG patrols.

Yep. I saw the NG up in Lakeview today, as advertised.

I’m sure one of the fringe benefits of their presence is to make tourists feel safer. But, from what I understand, we’re not likely to see many more police/NG during the daytime anyway. Their main efforts will be at night, when most of the looting/gangbanging activity has been taking place.
