The Big Shift

I have had some kind of voodoo going on with my log-in abilities for MB but I got in today so I guess I better post. The truth is though, I have been too busy to sort out exactly which thing happening this week is the thing to tell you about. I have plenty to say about how sick I am of the planning process but very happy with the success of the new Treme Neighborhood Association and the baby steps forward of lower Mid-City but frankly, like Jack, am starting to feel like a chump for being here. The stray animal population is coming back, the drug dealing murderers are back, the suck ass non-service at our grocery stores is enough to make me snap. Once you’ve been to a Harris Teeter, it’s all over for ya here. Is anything really going to change? The population in general can stop growing now because we are standing in lines that are too long to get simple things done. I’m tired and getting fed up but I do feel a big shift coming for the better however, I preferred the smaller population, so personally, I am not all the excited about growth anymore. I need an evacuation to cheer me up.

But here’s something good, The Joint BBQ is opening a location in Uptown at 4115 Magazine St. The original location on Poland avenue is a great funky space and there’s no way the Uptown version will have that same atmosphere but it’s some great BBQ, almost as good as Craig’s. That stretch of Magazine St. will be smelling like BBQ and Popeyes. Uptown has too many choices and too much traffic. Grrr, fuck uptown. Ok, there, I feel better. Yesterday, I found out the McDonalds on Canal near Broad will open by August but we really could have used The Joint here in this area.

Ok, well, today I gotta go get some money for the roofing team on Dorgenois, and a wheelbarrow and hook up with the guys from Sears to get this fridge delivered for an absent condo owner. I also have to address a couple ugly insurance issues which could ultimately determine my fate here in New Orleans.
