Twice In One Year

July%20Trash%20Pile%20Cleaning.jpg

The method used in determining what trash the Corps contractors will pick up on any day is a complete mystery to me. Will it be the black bag guys today? The construction debris team? And why did they come out and get that stuff they are just now gutting out of the house on the corner on the same day they gutted? Why is the two-foot pile of sorta bagged household trash still sitting on the corner at Tonti? Sunday I realized no one had completely cleaned the trash pile on my block for months. January? March? I don’t want to get so comfortable with this situation.

So Sunday I began bugging some orange vests who were working on Bienville and they gave me a number to call at Philip & Jordan. There is still the issue of anything in front of commercial buildings which probably explains why the perma-pile here because it was a corner store. But the orange vests told me if you call they will come get it despite the contract issue. Residents naturally tend put their refuse in front of the commercial structures first because no one is living there, so this makes the problem a bit worse. On Sunday I called and left a message, Thursday they came and took it all.

Laureen, what number did you call? The number I was told to use was 658-2299 but I haven’t tried it yet.

So, the lesson of the day is a Kevin Costneresque “call them, and they will come”?? Interesting.
