Dissipating
Now ain’t this just the way it is? Check out the beginning of my entry from about 3:30 this morning….
“Dissipating” is such a wonderful word, at least in this case. Dissolving. Falling apart. Becoming no more. My last name isn’t Roget, but I can think of other synonyms as well. In the case of the latest tropical system, it’s a good word. Read the official forecast discussion on this system, and you’ll note it’s expected to dissipate.
….but I come back an hour later to check the updated forecast, only to find it’s changed. What had been a “dissipating” tropical depression is now Tropical Storm Chris — and the forecasters now say the new prognostication is a “reversal” of the previous idea.
Well, hell.
Oh yeah — I went on and on about how I was ignoring tropical weather this year, in hopes it would just go the hell away. But nooooooooooooooo.
It’s not that I’m hypersensitive. I mean, this IS the Gulf of Mexico and we’re still a month or so away from the typical height of the tropical weather season. But let’s just say the status of our levee system remains somewhat, um, iffy. And that all the piles of debris left from last year would turn into windborne heaps of ammunition in a 100mph wind. So yeah — this kinda thang gets my attention.
Dammit.

So, what you’re saying is, “now might not be the best time of year to contemplate a move to Metairie”? Cuz that’s what I’m doin’ (I’m in Kentucky now… waiting on a job offer).
Ah. Metairie’s okay, for the most part. But I wouldn’t invest in housing just yet.

That there is positive thinking.
I still don’t plan on being on the commode when it happens, though.
