Night Out Against Crime
![]()
We went into the Night Out Against Crime event last night not knowing where people would go to the bathroom but when I arrived to help set-up the news teams were already there with their towers jacked all the way in the air. A port o’let had been donated and these tents appeared out of nowhere. Councilman Carter did show up and it was overall a good event. The first time ever on N. Robertson, drug dealing central. Some of the white shirts stood off on the the side all indignant about all the attention we were getting, too bad. Go ruin someone else’s neighborhood guys . . . this place is what you make it. We even had a riding group come through on horseback, it was nice. The Latinos in the area were reluctant to come get some food at first because of the police presence but eventually things relaxed and it was a success.
I planned my break to start after this event because every bit of manpower is needed to pull it off, so after weeks of putting myself last I’m out for while but will probably post a bit but I won’t miss that generator Bellsouth has been running at the end of the block for 3 weeks. No meetings, no workboots . . . . as I started saying when working at La Crepe, no bullshit.
