A MacBook For Suspect Device
As you probably know by now, Greg Peters of Suspect Device will undergo open-heart surgery in Cleveland soon after the long Thanksgiving weekend. Rebecca Stephenson, Alan Gutierrez and I have created a fundable account to purchase Greg a 2.0 GHz MacBook. We figure that 52 pledges of $25.00 will keep him connected, creative and employed during his recuperation.
Here is the link to the Fundable.org action: A MacBook for Suspect Device.
I’m sure that we can raise the money in a few days, before he heads off to Cleveland.
Here is the computer we’d like to finance: MacBook 2.0 GHz.
Per Alan: “It’s a one-step-up MacBook that will have enough oomph for him to run his graphics applications and burn DVDs. It’s a bit nicer than basic because graphics applications are piggy.”
Some have suggested purchasing Greg a $900-1000 discontinued or refurbed Mac. This is a great idea if one of us were purchasing the computer for ourselves, but with dirt-cheap commodity pricing on brand spanking new Macs and not wanting the machine to rear its ugly head for a long while, I’d prefer for Greg to have a new piece. $1300, plus kick-ins at the last minute, should take care of the laptop, taxes, S+H and lagniappe. Ashley will provide extra PowerBook RAM, if the shoe fits.
So, like I said, cough up the dough for Suspect Device. $1300 is pocket change in comparison to the voice he has given us.
