I Love Entergy

…and I bet you will too when you receive your next bill. It was like an early Christmas gift for me. It was like a cute little puppy dog all dressed up in candy cane stripes and jingle bells and a tail made of licorice. But instead of fur, it had red ants crawling all over it, and instead of licking my face and barking, it stole $266 from my wallet, then pissed black ink on my carpet and called my girlfriend a whore. I guess I’ll be freezing my ass off for the next few months, as heat is suddenly an unaffordable luxury. I don’t think my bill has ever been more than half this high.

I left my apartment in october after the storm. My bill was up to date when I left. They sent me a bill for $496.00 for an apartment I was not in for over a month. I was not there. There was no electricity. But, they still sent me a bill for a service I could not use. Fuck Entergy. They made a huge profit this year since they filed for Bankruptcy.

Yeah mine was 2x higher than normal.

    Fuel Adjustment Costs = BULLSHIT!

Mine was $267 - almost the same price as yours. Very strange. They told us rates would increas 45% or so, but for me this is over 300% from my highest bill - do you think there is a blanket minimum charge this month maybe?

we got our bill on the saturday before xmas. it is $325. our energy usage was $118 and there is a fuel adjustment factor of $150. then on the gas our bill was $10 and adjustment was $20. add the various unexplained taxes like the street usage tax and you get a bill that is nothing less than extortion. we were very careful to monitor our usage to keep it low and this bill is $175 more than any bill i have ever gotten in a winter month in the last 20 years.
the adjustment cost is the problem. call a pig a horse, it is still a pig. don’t know if we can afford to live here.

My bill for the month: $307.81. Seems a bit steep for a 1400SF (poorly insulated) shotgun, since it was a pretty mild month, as I recall. The culprit is the gas adjustment change, which more than doubled my bill.

Would be interested in seeing gas usage stats from other folks.

    Electric (715kWh)
    Energy charge: $36.31
    Fuel adjustment: $38.48
    Franchise Fee $3.94
    Gas (146 CCF)
    Gas service: $33.98
    Rate Plan: $8.93
    Gas Adj: $166.20
    Franchise Fee: $11.01
    City Tax $8.96

You want to get even madder about Entergy’s deciets, visit http://www.greennuclearbutterfly.com and join our movement.

As to your post…Entergy got almost $300 MILLION in community block grants, thus allowing them to get back 90 cents on the dollar for all their losses after Hurricane Katrina.

Meanwhile, they set aside $400 MILLION to buy back their own stock.
