It has begun

It’s official, the first semi-impromptu parade of the season just wound its way past my apartment. We started hearing something that sounded like Jimmy Buffet (weird, I know) music in the distance, soon we realized it was not just getting louder, it was getting closer. We raced out to the balcony and sure enough, it was a little parade. We missed the beginning but catching the end of a mini float carrying the band followed by the usual crowd of revelers was enough to know.
Mardi Gras is coming and the season is upon us. I can’t wait.

This is what chaps my ass about being 400 miles away for another week or so — I’m missing these small things that mark the start of Carnival.

Gimme a week or so. Enjoy.

Me too, Craig–and I unfortunately won’t be in town again until maybe Jazz Fest. *whimper*

Happy Carnival season, everybody! Have an absolute blast!
