I am staring out of my office window at yellow-tinted smoke that is pouring out of a brink building off of canal by Claiborne. Shit, I can see flames leaping out of the roof. I am on the phone with 911 now. Will update with how long a response time takes.

Fire is still raging. Seems like there are 3 streams from the fire trucks (they arrived shortly after my call - within 5 minutes or so. The lady at 911 told me they had already gotten word about this fire).
There are still flames covering the roof of the building. I have never seen anything like this.
The fire is out and the building no longer has a roof (or any structural itegrity, I imagine). There is only a little smoke left rising from the ashes now.
this marks the third time the economy motor inn on Tulane has caught fire. you’d think the city would have torn it down after the four alarm fire there around Mardi Gras.
