“A mighty oak has fallen in God’s forest.”

One Down….

“The Bible warns us clearly that we must not attack men of God no matter how sinful they may have become or wicked in our eyes.” :Benny Hinn**

Yeah, well. Ya know, I really never have liked Jerry Falwell and now he’s dead. Eh, what do I care. Just another closed minded old man with archaic views passing on to either be with the God he profited from or, well, nothing at all. Be that as it may, let’s take a minute to remember his wonderful, inspiring words. Yes, let’s do exactly that.

“Someone must not be afraid to say, ‘moral perversion is wrong.’ If we do not act now, homosexuals will ‘own’ America!…If you and I do not speak up now, this homosexual steamroller will literally crush all decent men, women, and children who get in its way…and our nation will pay a terrible price!”

“If you’re not a born-again Christian, you’re a failure as a human being”

“Christians, like slaves and soldiers, ask no questions”

“AIDS is not just God’s punishment for homosexuals; it is God’s punishment for the society that tolerates homosexuals”

“Textbooks are Soviet propaganda”

“The idea that religion and politics don’t mix was invented by the Devil to keep Christians from running their own country”

“The ACLU is to Christians what the American Nazi party is to Jews”

“It appears that America’s anti-Biblical feminist movement is at last dying, thank God, and is possibly being replaced by a Christ-centered men’s movement which may become the foundation for a desperately needed national spiritual awakening”

“I believe that the people of Israel are the chosen people of God”

“There’s been a concerted effort to steal Christmas.”

“[homosexuals are] brute beasts…part of a vile and satanic system [that] will be utterly annihilated, and there will be a celebration in heaven.”

“Now we’re looking at what we really started on 30 years ago, reconstruction of a court system gone awry.”

“(re: 9/11 attacks) “…throwing God out of the public square, out of the schools, the abortionists have got to bear some burden for this because God will not be mocked and when we destroy 40 million little innocent babies, we make God mad…I really believe that the pagans and the abortionists and the feminists and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People for the American Way, all of them who try to secularize America…I point the thing in their face and say you helped this happen.”"

Ya know, looking through the list I’ve thrown together from a brief Internet search I’ve decided the only thing the man ever said that I agree with completely is:

“[cough]….[gasp]”

Arguably the last thing he said. But let’s not be too hasty with the burying and the crying. Let’s give him a few days and see if he comes back with a message from God. Ya never know, he might. Place your bets suckers. And I promise if he does come back from the dead in a few days I will post a very, very sincere retraction of this post.

I’ll always remember his Christian charity after Katrina, when he came down to New Orleans to comfort the afflicted and…

Oh, wait. He didn’t. He just used it as an excuse to beg for money:

Looking around a little more I ran into this site You can take a quiz where you have to determine if it was Jerry Falwell or Pat Robertson, or Osama Bin Ladin that said the quote. And though I’m no expert on any of the three men, I was surprised to find I only got 5 our of 20 correct.

    It’s interesting.

a few years ago i spotted Mr. Falwell (in Baton Rouge) sitting in his car inhaling a Burger King Whopper.

it was an ugly sight, i had to look away.

i’d love to know what he was worth. $$

I guess he’ll be finding out about right now if Hatred is really an Xian value….

Don’t be too harsh on the man, he may rise from the dead this Sunday and have a rabbit in a bow tie hide eggs in your garden.

I hope he is being ass raped right now in a Flaming homosexual disco in Hell. But of course, we all know this isn’t happening because Hell does not exist and we have the ability to read and add numbers.

If there is a heaven, or some place where all knowledge is immediately gained, I’m sure he is learning about Dinosaurs and Mythology right about now.

Is he the one that was busted with a whore at a hotel on airline drive or was that one of his buddies?

heather, that would be one of his pals — Jimmy Swaggart (another treasure)

Thanks – I can’t keep my televagelists straight. So Falwell is the one that Larry Flint humiliated and Swaggart is the family man. Gotcha.

Another infamous Falwell quotation (from Slate.com):

On feminists: “I listen to feminists and all these radical gals. … These women just need a man in the house. That’s all they need. Most of the feminists need a man to tell them what time of day it is and to lead them home. And they blew it and they’re mad at all men. Feminists hate men. They’re sexist. They hate men; that’s their problem.”

  12. termite. (unregistered) on May 16th, 2007 @ 12:24 pm

….and Swaggart is the one who a squealed on Marvin Gorman (First Assembly of God) for committing adultery.
