Trainwreck

trainwreck

Ordinarily I’d be referring to our mayor or the governor or one of my mother’s casserole catastrophes, but in this case I mean a real trainwreck. If you’re in the Bywater, get comfy.

The “do not approach train” sign is appropriate, but it would be more appropriate if it said “watch for falling trains.”

Richard–did it actually end up in NOCCA’s parking lot? I can’t really tell from the photo… but wow. What happened?

Those Livejournal pics are great. Unfortunately, I was trapped on the less photogenic side of The Unpleasantness.

As for exactly what happened, I can’t say. It looks like one of the cars jumped the track as it was coming through the turn connecting the levee line and the Press Street line, taking about four other cars with it.

It didn’t look like the train hit NOCCA at all. And even better, it appeared that several chunks of the track were ripped up in the wreck, rendering the line unusable for a while. Which is great news to anyone who has to get back and forth to the Bywater with any regularity.

I’m pretty sure that this is exactly the situation where Superman comes and lifts train cars out of the way and straightens the tracks by whipping them into shape.
