Piece by piece

Cruising along and reading various papers and doing Web searches, I came across this article, which is one of the most accurate I’ve seen in quite some time. It’s funny how smaller papers can come up with some of the best overall analysis.

Anyway, as I struggle to put together a new restaurant and as others struggle to build or rebuild a house, it’s somehow heartening to know there’s some other dude or dudette a couple of blocks over who’s facing the exact same issues. We are indeed pioneers and we are the engines putting this Humpty Dumpty back together again.

This is a July 2 article in NY Times, complete with audio slide show on the website.

I still think I’m better off in not qualifying for any Road Home money since I bought the house after the storm, especially now that it looks like they aren’t going to have enough money anyway. At least I mean, I’m not going to get any money, but at least I don’t have to deal with all that. Also not having any money keeps me from having to deal with contractors too.

    Everything’s coming up Milhouse.

Yes, it IS a New York Times article. I saw it standing in line at the store today. When I posted, all I had seen was the piece on this particular site.

I take the Sunday Times, but not the weekday edition.
