Heather, this is not an either-or proposition.

This is more than just sex: this is a man who is trying to use the machinery of government to disenfranchise an entire class of US citizens by amending the Constitution. This is a fraud and a hypocrite who uses homophobia, sex-panic, and “family values” to distract from all of the other frauds of the federal government.

We are talking about a Senate that is divided 50-49-1. How do you think that those Executive Branch scandals get investigated?! These are precarious times, and the demagoguery that is coming out of Louisiana needs to be shut down.

This is no “media scandal.” This is deadly serious.

Vitter needs to resign.

We don’t need some exacerbated media scandal that will potentially lead nowhere. If a politician has committed a crime on behalf of his office I think he should be removed from power. I think it is a shame that the media and the powers-that-be focus time and energy on a Senatorial sex scandal rather than investigating the multiple frauds (which have horrifying ramifications) committed by the Presidential regime. We need to hold the powers at the top accountable just as we should a Senator, Congressman, Mayor, etc.

If someone is a fraud they should be exposed as a fraud. Airing his dirty laundry only comes from Mr Vitter attempting to legislate how you or I live our lives. I didn’t vote for him anyway nor would I have even considered voting for him based on his personal “hate speech”.

While I was on evacuation, I became infuriated when I saw Vitter saying, on the Senate floor, that his “ban gay marriage” constitutional amendment was the most important legislation ever.

The largest city in his constituency was drowning due to federal incompetence and he was insisting that gay marriage threatened his marriage.

I can’t get enough of his come uppance.

When the rumors about Vitter and the Canal Street brothel were originally floating around a few years ago, I was skeptical – not because I didn’t think Mr. Relaxed-Fit Dockers wouldn’t do it (that wife of his was virtually Superglued to his arm during his campaign), but because…well… the Canal Street brothel was stocked with toothsome young ladies, and perhaps I’m the only one, but David Vitter has always given off a hint of mint to me.

You’ve GOT to be kidding. Vitter made it his priority to try to amend the Constitution to discriminate against gays and lesbians while much of Louisiana and the Gulf Coast still lies in ruins. All the while he’s boning hookers. He’s a fraud, a hate-monger–he has shamed the office, served his state poorly, and he deserves to be further shamed and thrown out of office.

Nagin, Vitter, Jefferson–the real question is when LA is going to clean house?

I’m thinking this has more to do with questions re lobbying money. Vitter received Jack Abramoff funds. The talk is that Vitter was not exactly being super-frugal in other ways around the time of the hooker rentals.

I’m glad they’re following up on this; unseating a Republican senator and installing a Democrat is and should be a high priority for the Democratic leadership.

Plus, holding Republicans up to the standards that they insist others should follow is always an amusing exercise.
