some kind of focus on musicial instruments would be a good fit I think. Maybe a trombone here, sax there, giant harmonica, something to remind people about this city’s musical heritage.

Hey, maybe big colorful termites! They would be easy to construct and distinctive. and kinda cute And then something like this could be done as a center-piece. Could sort of symbolize people scattered after the storm, some who aren't back yet. Maybe some percentage of the termites could have designations to represent people who aren't back...like some percentage won't have wings to show them grounded where they landed by choice or otherwise.

Someplace else has done pelicans already. Somewhere in Florida, I think.

Speaking of random public art, I’ve been seeing lots of hand printed messages, signs and art tacked up on telephone poles. Most of it’s pretty good stuff; some of it is downright inspirational.

You have a great idea. I have no idea how to cast molds but if a group wants to get together and figure it out I doubt it would be expensive or hard to produce quite a few. I have no problem paying for a mold – just deciding what it should be.

I like the idea of just handing the casts out to anyone who wants to paint and hang them somewhere in the city. None of this “only artists” can paint. Everyone from your grandma to your grandchild should be included: a community effort.

I of course would then be MORE than happy to use my gallery a distribution point for the object d’art to be painted -
