If you are local try Langenstein's. They have king cakes that are good and not too expensive. They usually carry a McKenzie taste-a-like. If you aren't local you can get cakes from their supplier (at typical internet delivered prices) BigEasyBakery.com

I second the Randazzo’s comment. Been living in Southern Cal now for 10 years after moving from New Orleans and every year I order a king cake from them. Will be ordering soon for 2008.

Randazzo’s, off Severn is the thing to get when you want to make the trip for a REAL treat. Someone brought one to work a few years ago and I saw the light. I like the simple cinnamon version and even in that realm, Randazzo’s is above and beyond. Worth the trip but otherwise, the Rouse’s are probably better, moister than Sam’s. . . I need to get the decorations up soon, we’re on a short schedule this year. Get going on that costume! I can’t believe it’s the earliest since 1913! We’re slammin. Happy Mardi Gras Y’all !
