The National Guard have been nice to us too, but it takes away from the decentralization and localized government that is supposed to make the United States different.

I know that it will take some time to get used to operating completely different, but if we don't start tackling these big issues, who will? Our kids? Well my parents and that generation thought so, and look at the mess that they left us with.

That is why I'm running for mayor in 2010. I want to begin the change toward the right direction, and I want to find out where all of the taxpayers' money is leaking off to. With that information I can catch the crooks and eliminate unnecessary city departments that are leeches on the citizens.

@Micah: I don't think anyone would argue that a poor educational system and Regan's ill-fated drug war have hurt New Orleans. But c'mon: it'd take years to address those issues and DECADES before we see a payoff--and that's assuming that NOPS, the RSD, and the DEA decide to deal with those problems effectively.

In the meantime, there is the practical matter of people getting mugged and gunned down in the streets. What do you propose we do about that?

Also: I happen to like the National Guard. They've been very friendly to me, and damn but those uniforms are hot. Srsly.

I would have to disagree with the National Guard and Blackwater Theocrats being allowed to continue to operate in New Orleans. The only thing that will make the crime go away is better education and completely ending the drug war.

We need to get to the root of the problem instead of just throwing more force at it.

The government likes to creat problems to justify its existence
