With the 'greening' of the nation one would think that buses and carpooling would literally be shoved down our throats. I guess they haven't figured out a way to make us pay more, wait longer and be all happy about it!! I think most of us would be frelling ecstatic to have a bus arrive on time! And with 100k less people living here you would think that could happen and happen often!!! But the bus system in this town has ALWAYS been lousy, long before the Bushes, more like with the Dutch!

It really is too bad as this city is made for bikes but not bike lanes. I'm not sure our drivers could deal, I mean 90% of the city hadn't ever seen a REAL school bus and are clueless as how to react to one with lights and swing out stop signs, add a bike lane to that mix...

I think having MORE street cars would rock, Napoleon from the river to Broad St., a Claiborne South Line from Jackson all the way to the parish line! I found it amusing when the PTB decide to institute light rail in the city - then some forward thinking person reminded them that at the very least streetcars ARE light rail.

Nothing has changed in 40 plus years. I remember going to the West Bank in 1964 from New Orleans East. It took all day but cost like .25, my dad paid us to go pick up an auto part. We bought a box full of Krystal Burgers which were .10 at the time and had money left over.

Call me and I will give you a ride next time.
