Dan Baum covered Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath for The New Yorker, and wrote a daily blog for the New Yorker's website in early 2007. He is the author of Nine Lives: Death and Life in New Orleans; Citizen Coors: An American Dynasty; and Smoke and Mirrors: The War on Drugs and the Politics of Failure.
