Mayor Nagin’s annoucement about Hurricane Ivan

NEW ORLEANS, LA; 3 pm CST. The Mayor and his supporting cast of officials are on TV addressing the populace. I have to admit I wasn’t paying close attention when he spoke about using the Superdome as a special shelter so I may have misunderstood what he said. I thought I heard him say that people who wanted to use the Superdome as a shelter could do so but there would be some basic ground rules: no alcohol, no knives, no guns, and no big-screen TVs.

Hey, desperate times call for desperate measures.

During times of crisis, we all must sacrifice.

Didn’t they do the same thing during Georges or something a few years back? And wasn’t the Dome trashed afterwards–like chairs missing and stuff?

Well, actually, that was the city’s fault that the Superdome got trashed last time. Because the city didn’t set up a pharmacy for people who didn’t bring their medications with them. Further, the city didn’t serve up 4-star cuisine to the evacuees who didn’t bring food to eat with them. They were forced to survive on Ogden hot dogs (not sure if they were charged for them, but probably not). So taking those couches and TVs and barstools was completely justified.

I heard the radio broadcast via the web given by Mayor Nagin.
Although I despise GDing, I have to say, good for him TELLING IT LIKE IT IS!!!!!!!!!
These government officials at press conferences saying “We understand” can’t POSSIBLY understand having NEVER endured what the citizenry does and is currently going through.
I live in Nashville, but regardless where you live, you’d have to be heartless not to cry at the stories and images shown of people literally dehydrating and starving to death IN OUR OWN COUNTRY!!!
Why is it we can help other nations, but yet we aren’t helping our own til it’s too late?? Why didn’t helicopters/planes do food drops days ago???? We do it for other countries, I cannot BELIEVE the President and head of homeland security have the GAUL to say what they do. One official said that those in this situation have to take responsibility for the situation they’re in to a degree. BULLSHIT! Tell that to those without cars or money to leave, tell that to the senior citizens too frail to leave, tell that to the children that had no choice!!!!
I bet if autopsies are performed as they should be you’ll find as many starved to death or died from dehydration as drowned, which is SENSELESS!!!
Kudos to the Mayor for showing no fear for telling the truth. Finally, an honest politician.
May God watch over ALL of those affected in all states by this tragedy.

Is the mayer an idiot or what… Now, after being so dumb not to get “his people” out of the city on all of those buses that were under water.. he now does not want the hard working latins in his city – they might take a welfare check away from one of his posse I guess – what an ass…
Like the Blacks would actually show up to do work – they are waiting until the work is done – wake up mayer, having kids is a job for the blacks not cleaning up the city, that takes some sweat…..
funny how the latins can find the way to the city but not the blacks… huh, wonder why????

Where was oprah when all of those poor white people in Florida needed houses and help – right there in her studio, laughing and jumping with Tom Cruse.
Now all of a sudden she is buying houses for those poor black people in N.O… I guess they need a house for that big screen tv they looted.
Funny how the white people go out and buy themselves water and food – the blacks wait until it is handed to them and then complain when it comes too late for them – a bunch of ungrateful, lazy nigs if you ask me. Funny how they found the way to rob wallmart, have six kids and whine to the cameras about how bad it is – get off of your big fat butt and do something for yourself for once………………………..

Mayor Nagin I have visited your city more than 30 times in my lifetime – many visits were for business and conventions. After hearing your racist outburst today on t.v. I promise you I will never interfere with your “chocolate” environment again. I now see New Orleans for what it always has been -a crime ridden, nasty place that hates whites.

I’m embarrassed to be a resident of the state of Louisiana. Mayor Nagin is an asshole.
