It’s been a whole MONTH already???

How time flies when you’re having fun….

Talked to some long-time friends today from Waveland. They’re not going back.

Talked this evening to a wheelchair-bound woman from Lake Charles. “Baby — build me a ramp across all dat mud an’ I’ll be back come Sattiday.”

…and all sorts of opinions in between over the past 30 days.

Dodie’s in Dallas is the closest thing to Parasol’s there is, without actually being there. Aside from the Leidenheimer bread, their roast beef po’boys are puuuuh-fect. And a kickass shrimp bisque. Thank you Charlie for helping the misplaced feel at home.

Now CNN’s talking about how some of the reports about rape, death and pillage in the Superdome and Convention Center might have been overblown by the media and by local officials. Excuse me, but, um…..
Can we stop looking back? For a day or so? This is best discussed at the next convention of the Radio/Television News Directors Association. Or the National League of Cities. Or someplace. Else. Thank you.

Thank you, Tom DeLay, for being indicted. For a brief time, it moved hurricanes off center stage. Until they started discussing overreaction to reports of rape, death and pillage in the Superdome and Convention Center.

The area code game. Your cell phone rings and it’s a call from some area code you’ve never called in your life. But you answer it because you know it’s some neighbor or friend who has found themselves in some Godforsaken place until they can go back. “How ARE yeeeew????…….”

….or your (985 or 504 area code) cell phone goes for days without ringing at all. Finally someone DOES get through and says they’ve been calling for days but “all circuits were busy.”

Nearly getting tears in your eyes to see Marcia Ball and The Radiators on the same marquee. Not sure if we can go but hell — we CAN if it’ll work. Just like being home.

It’s been too far and too long and too deep over the past 30 days. But it ain’t too much to be, since we’ll be going back soon as we can. In the meantime, those of you who get back ahead of us please raise a glass and have a swallow for us.

It really warms my heart to see our fellow NIGGER citizens coming together in a crisis. They sure know how to help out the situation down there in New Orleans. I am glad to see that they are able put aside their diffrences and work together to help(i.e. rape, pillage, plunder) out their communities.

    THE ESSENTIAL AMERICAN NIGGER:

Slink around, shuffling your feet and bobbing your neck like the lazy retard you are.

yeah, well, i guess the above from one “dan festler” comes with the territory of free speech. unfortunately, those that abuse the freedom of free speech often have no concept of basic decency and humanity.

free speech prevents the government from censoring citizens, not private bloggers. please, take this crap off. and i hope this guy’s not from new orleans. we already have enough problems.

It would appear that this same post from this “Dan Festler” person has been the scourge of many a blog and discussion board. Doing a google search on this name, I found this exact same post dated to many of these boards as far back as 2002. Apparently, he or whoever posts these “articles” and then proceeds to harrass the site for a little while then leaves – and apparently this is a smart rat – as he/she/it chagnes their IP number so you can’t effectively block them. Just a heads up – so you can figure on what to possibly expect from this “person”.

Are you going back to NOLA? or are you gonna stay up there with Mayor Nagin?

thanks, ann, it’s a name that’s been in my family for a long time, since my peoples first came from france to new orleans and plaquemines back in the 1700’s.

Notice the the coward above did not leave any links or other identifying information…its truly pathetic, this is not nor has ever been a racial issue and I have pity on those who are so full of venom that they actually believe in those stereotypes.

I Am Proud to Be Black, and have NEVER identified with any of the above, not because I don’t wish to indentify with being black, I just don’t cater to stereotypes, any stereotypes.

Craig, I have kept up with Metroblogging New Orleans since I found that I could get a real life view of whats going on down there. I am from Chicago and have only visited once, but, I felt at home when I was there. I only wish you all the best of luck in your recovery efforts. God Bless, all of you!

  11. hyacinthe (unregistered) on September 29th, 2005 @ 2:09 pm

    mr. snitch,

i don’t know what the hell you’re talking about. what does media and local official exaggeration of violence have to do with the governor’s demanding more money? or the right of taxpayers to answers, for that matter? what answers? to what questions? either you read entirely too much into that one paragraph, or this is a complete non sequitur.

also, just wondering, where’s the cliche there? is “This is best discussed at the next convention of the Radio/Television News Directors Association” now a cliche that i’m not aware of. granted, i haven’t kept up on cliches lately.

  12. Craig (unregistered) on September 29th, 2005 @ 6:36 pm

Yes — we are going back as soon as possible. And so is the mayor’s family, once schools are running and things are safe again. One thing that makes it easier for us to go back sooner is that we don’t have any kids living with us.

As I said in an earlier post, the jerks who show up on this board don’t get to me personally. It’s just proof there’s no law against being a dickhead.

  13. e (unregistered) on September 29th, 2005 @ 10:59 pm

god, a law against being a dickhead. i wonder who could possibly propose it, though….

i was planning on moving to NO early next year. went there in late june to scope it out. I guess that will have to be postponed some, but I will be movning there, nonetheless. I can’t return since I didn’t live there yet. But as soon as it becomes clear what is needed in the process, I’m comin’ too. gonna work on teaching art in the public schools, I think…

Who is Dan Festler? He must be over 100 years old. What a complete ass. I couldn’t even get past the first two sentences I was so offended. Funny how it is the most disgusting, pathetic, ignorant people you know and don’t want to know who make blatant generalizations and belittle others. I feel sorry for him. What a pathetic life he must lead to be so incredibly small minded and to live with the weight of all that on his shoulders

I really just wonder after watching all that has gone on in New Orleans and all that goes on around this country in the last 40 years, just how long our government will allow this country to sink ever further into the shit hole it is falling into because of the black people. Hearing all the statistics lately in seems to me that if we removed them from our country that we could tear down 80 out of every hundred prisons, that the crime rate would drop 80% we would save billions from welfare, free up our court system vastly improve our education system and actually have public places to go again like parks and swimming pools that are clean and crime free. Not that i blame it on the nigger,it is not all his fault, the white race has been civilized for thousands of years we only pulled the niggers out of the trees about two hundred years ago, of course he is not civilized yet.
They have used this racism issue to death and i am sick of that stupid shit, the only thing that keeps it alive is the fact that they have black skin and are so easy to see right away that they are of the black race, now most every civilization on earth at one time or the other has been enslaved but you pick them out so easily by sight. Almost no one in this country today has any relatives that were even here prior to the civil war, so hardly any of us had anything to do with their poor nigger grandpa having been a slave, but we are white and they can spot us so easily and say that that white man is responsible, never mind that their own black brothers in Africa are the ones that sold their dumb ass to the white man,,they cant blame them cause they cant pick them out of a crowd,,they are black to. If we had all been the same color then there would be no race issue at all. Then they would have to get their black ass to work like the rest of us.An average white man would not sit his ass on a roof top and wait for help to come and get him,,but your average dumb ass nigger will sit there until he dies waiting for the hand out. And even more rediculous,,he will holler that he is a tax payer and deserves it,what a crock of shit,,they are tax users not tax payers. And i am sick of supporting their lazy ass’s we need a government with some balls to call a spade a spade. We are fast becoming one of the most uneducated countries on the planet, Japan exclaimed that they had to go to Canada and build their production plants to get a more intelligent work force, seems like before we desegregated the school system that we had a pretty good education system, now it seems all we are doing in school is trying to house the niggers until they are ready to go to prison. Maybe the whites should just pull out of the country like they did in South Africa and leave it to the niggers,, i am sure they would make it a fine place to live. God can you imagine what it would be in just a couple years? Look at South Africa how well they are doing there on their own. Look at New Orleans,,looks like some one left a cage open and the animals got out,,and now they want us to rebuild the shit hole? I vote NO.

Has it really been over 40 years since I, like many of my fellow college students, took part in the many acts of civil disobedience (at the time) in order to change the abhorrent racial discrimination in this great Nation of ours? I am absolutely amazed and disgusted by these ignorant comments! For God’s sake people, this is the year 2005 and we are still thinking and writing crap like this? The struggles, and even deaths, of civil rights activists from 40 years ago evidently was all in vain if this attitude, and the expression of this attitude, perdures! What the hell have they been teaching in schools for the last 40 years? Where are you people learning this hatred? “Come on people, now, smile on your brother, everybody get together try to Love one another right now!”

  17. D. FESTLER PHD (unregistered) on October 6th, 2005 @ 6:26 am

Mr. Ladson has accurately summed up the situation in New Orleans and the current situation America finds herself in.

I think it is really to late for America. The 40 years of liberal policies have had there desired effect. The American education system is in shambles. The crime rate has sored and American society can best be described as a toilet.

A good example of this is Kanye West. He has become a spokesperson for American popular culture. Basically, a piece of fecal matter with a human form. A unintelligible cretin that loves to extoll the virtues of “ghetto life”, for which he knows nothing about.

This is another example of someone breaking one of the golden rules speech. Think before you speak…

  18. Craig (unregistered) on October 6th, 2005 @ 9:31 pm

    …..and you obviously haven’t.

The FBI says crime is at its lowest point in two decades. This “toilet” of a US society has elected GW Bush. Twice. Schools ARE in a shambles, but this has been a problem afflicting the country under the watches of both parties, congressionally and in the White House.

I tire quickly of a group supporting rampant deficit spending and international nation-building referring to itself as “conservatives.” I also tire just as quickly of self-proclaimed “liberals” who keep celebrating the Great Society and their protests against the Vietnam War as their zeniths of accomplishment.

Neither has anything to do with the problems now facing the Gulf Coast. I have seen no finger-pointing in the conservative writings of Edmund Burke or the dreamy liberalism of Thomas Jefferson. Both chose to look forward and, hopefully, we can do more of that in this forum.

  19. Vietnam War Protester (unregistered) on October 7th, 2005 @ 12:02 am

I think stopping this nation’s involvement in a war is an entirely admiral accomplishment; as a Vietnam-Vet against the war, I can die at peace knowing that my participation in protests against my government’s war policies DID make a difference and helped end our involvement! What have you accomplished in your lifetime? Oh, and BTW, I’m a registered Republican – you didn’t have to be (and don’t have to be) a “liberal” to know that killing is wrong!
Is this the same FBI that knew about the 9/11 hijackers and did nothing? just wondering…

A friend of mine who runs a liquor store here in Central Texas has had his best month ever, mostly due to increased business from FEMA card carriers. He cannot sell to them so they go down the street to the supermarket and get CASH from their FEMA welfare card and come back to buy from him. If these niggers were always that resourceful, they would not need a FEMA card. Makes me proud to see those bushdollahs in action!!

  21. puddinhead (unregistered) on October 9th, 2005 @ 1:48 am

Oh and by the way, in all that network coverage did you see even one nigger that looked hungry, thirsty, sick or underfed?? They appeared to have enough strength to shove the older people in wheelchairs out of the way and haul carts full of shoes out of Wal Mart. Another friend of mine who actually volunteered at the Astrodome had to leave the second day because he could not tolerate the complaints about the “service” and “where are the Cokes and we want some hamburgers” while he served them a sandwich from Arby’s and a bottled water. Makes me glad I did not donate to the “Katrina” fund.

its unfortunate that the folks in this blog do not see what the guy is talking about. This Dan Festler guy could be nothing more than a black man who is sick of what his people are doing to themselves.Out here on the coast its not a racial thing ,the word Nigger crosses racial lines all the time,we have wiggers,Beaniggers and just general white trash that have nothing to identify with but thugism, thats the real problem, and until theese childrens parents begin to wake up and slap ther kids upside the head to bring them into society, this garbage will prevail in all racial communities..Parents get to work and be parents.

“Why are more than 50 percent of African-American males between the ages of 16 and 22 out of work and not in school? Why are 87 percent of juvenile parolees African-American males? Why are 60 percent of adult parolees African-American males? Why have only 38 percent of black males graduated from Chicago high schools since 1995, while 62 percent have dropped out?”

The U.S. Justice Department projects that 32 percent of African-American men born in 2001 will spend time in prison.

Fourteen percent of young African American men who have sex with men were infected with HIV, almost four times the rate of their white counter parts.

These are facts I found doping research on this subject. Someone please explain why all of this is happening and why I’m supposed to feel sorry for these people.

    One more quick stat:

African Americans make up 50 percent of all AIDS cases reported in the United States, yet according to the U.S. Census Bureau, they comprise only 12 percent of the U.S. population. Hispanics represent 15 percent of all AIDS cases in the United States
