Just passing it along…..

I am told there will be a meeting tomorrow (Wednesday) night at 7pm at 1418 N. Claiborne to organize the best way of telling Dubya to go to hell when he visits here on Thursday. If you count yourself among those wanting to take part, there’s your information.

Gotta say I’m conflicted. On the one hand, I have no use for the guy on a whole lot of levels. I never voted for him and the resentment I have toward my own federal government, largely because of him, will likely never be resolved. But on the other, I’m wondering just how much effect an organized protest is going to have. Will it change anything? Is it just to make us feel better? No and maybe.

I will be at work on Thursday. Speaking only for me, I figure the best way I can protest this guy’s presence is by refusing to acknowledge his being here. I got shit to do, y’know? We all do. Let him take his dog-and-pony show someplace where they give a rip.

Craig, I share your feelings about the guy, and I’m conflicted as well about a response to his visit. Right now my feeling is a protest might feel good, but it also might just piss him off rather than foment a positive change in his attitude toward our situation. That does nothing to help.

    I’ll help you ignore him.

The entire world hates this guy, and hates this nation as a result. The vice president has bombers trying to kill him so unless you can make more of an impression than that, I have to think it’s a waste of time (and I’m not suggesting someone try to blow the bastard up or anything like that). My point is, he so self-righteous and clearly doesn’t give a fuck about anyone or anything down here except the oil, which we really don’t control at all, that I don’t think protesting will do anything.

The time for activism is dead and people need to stop bothering with it. All it does is pacify the masses by making them feel they have a voice even though it accomplishes nothing. Just look at the crime rally – good job – way to show the government if you’re allowed one afternoon off work to stand around in front of City Hall and give speeches that no one cares about, then after that you’ll go home shut up for a while so the government can continue to be as ineffective as it ever was.

Fuck W – he can bite my taint – but if he isn’t going to do that then I’m all for just ignoring the bastard.

I am new to this city (6 months) and have lived in the US nw for seven years (I’m Scottish). One thing really confuses me and frustrates me and I would love to know the answer:
Why does America neglect New Orleans?
I just wrote a post on my blog about it and its been getting at me. I really don’t know!!
    Thanks

Do what they wanted to during the innagural parade.

Everyone line up and when he comes through, turn your back to him.
