Poet, Chuck Perkins, makes an appearance at the NOLA Fired Up event today and he’s also doing a poetry event at the Dragon’s Den tonight. I love Chuck, if you haven’t seen him at Bacchanal, catch him at this event tonight. Here’s the announcement:

Ladies and Gentlemen; dogs and cats, you can stop wondering about when you might be able to see Voices of the Big Easy. We have a can’t miss show coming your way this Friday, February 29th. This will be the first show of 2008. The Dragon’s Den is scheduled to explode with the artistic energy of poets, musicians, Mardi Gras Indians, dancers and your debonair and charming MC Chuck Perkins. Any thing with artistic merit is welcomed. Bring your poems or songs to share, just make the MC aware that you would like to express yourself. Lift off is 10pm.

I agree, the scale of this is completely out of whack from the print to the ads to the graphics at the bottom of each post. Sean Bonner from CA is in charge of this stuff, authors are never given any input on the design. These changes are rolled out as well-hyped surprises. I like it best when it has some maps on it, not microphones, it’s not a radio station. It’s getting worse, not better.
